Here we go with Greenwold Island- Home of the downtown sector of Gainesburg Greenwold Island is a beautiful area where the ships come to port, the shipping companies have the headquarters and seamen make there homes. Here is a look at downtown in all its glory by the docks- This is the site everyone sees so it is critical that it looks great for visitors-

Downtowns very edge- A park and docks best friend-

The Orisory Lighthouse- Built as a replacement to the original 1795 lighthouse- the Orisory lighthouse is built on a sand bar and was built in 1856. The Orisory Family tended the lighthouse from the beginning of its excistance and when a storm in 1853 wiped out the original they petitioned and won the rights to build a new one- 3 years later there it was and has been ever since-

the National Seamans memorial was dedicated in 1904 after the loss of the KRS James IV sunk off the coast. The toll a person pays to view the park pays for the replacement of any bricks lost do to wear. The bricks include the names of seamen lost over 1000 years of history-

Town Diaries / Re: Saphire coast: Sunrse to sunset

I thought I'd show you sunrise and sunset in the city over the ocean-

The photographer accidentally did a double exposure on the picture of the moon rising over the sea:

The sunrise over the sea in a spectacular show. Could this truly be paradise-

and as the sun sets over the sea the city goes to sleep- beaches empty and the night finally arrives-

And so begins the new night and the city becomes quiet again.

Town Diaries / Saphire coast
« on: January 01, 2013, 07:40:38 pm »
The saphire coast is a beautiful sea side area. The cities of the regoin were founded mostly on fishing and gradually worked there way up the ladder to full on seaport cities- The first city you'll explore is the city of Gainesburg- Founded in 1858 Gainesburg has survived many hurricanes over the years and thanks to the protection on its island- has escaped fairly unharmed. The first area we'll explore doesn't show the city in a great light. However funding is improving the area. Its the historic district called "Old Park"

The original homes of Gainesburg have been lovingly restored by there owners. As one home gets torn down another home of older style takes its place in order to keep the old look of the area.

Many of the buildings have fallen into disrepair. The federal government on behalf of his royal highness our helping prevent the buildings from being toern down with an all out initive to save the historic ares of the nation. Teddyland has a law stating that any building over 100 years old that can be saved must not be torn down. Each city is thus responsible to keep the buildings maintained and free of collapse- not easy in the salty sea air of the Saphire Coast

And a result of disrepair. An empty lot where a building once stood. This of coarse is done upon proclimation of the royals. They send out inspectors to judge whether the building can stand. if not it is torn down and replaced over the years.

Well That's it for part 1. I hope you enjoyed a look at the not so pleasant looking historic district.
Ps sorry for the large type face of the captions- My eyesight ain't what it used to be. ;D
